Policy on the life of Alonzo E. Bean, 1852.

A life insurance policy contract for Alonzo E. Bean for the amount of $1000, provided that the insured not "pass beyond the settled limits of the United States," or "remain over one month in any part of the year, West of the river Mississippi, (except in the states of Missouri and Iowa)." An addendum on a separate leaf affixed to the policy extends the coverage to allow travels to California through the isthmus of Panama, "but not to remain more than ten days in New Grenada or Central America."
